If you are a newlywed couple with a baby that’s just about to turn one-year old, it can be difficult to throw a party that only you will remember. But it is always important to take pictures and document the fact that your baby is turning one. Getting party supplies isn’t an option; it’s mandatory. So how do you get all your friends to come to a party the guest of honor won’t even remember? A baby’s birthday party has to be more of an adult gathering.
It might not even be necessary to tell people that it is your baby’s birthday except for your closest friends. If only a few people know, they won’t be pressured to buy baby crib bedding sets and bring rattles and toys. Treat it like a regular mellow party and people will come and sing happy birthday to your baby. They will appreciate the way you did it and you will have a great memory to put in the photo album.
If you tell everyone it’s your baby’s birthday, people might groan and sigh about it and feel like they are obligated to come and bring nursery bedding as a gift. So do everyone, including yourself, a favor and keep it a secret.
